I don't think of it as not-winning, I think of it as almost-winning. Maybe that says a lot about me, but I was the finalist for the Black Warrior Review 2020 Flash Contest AND for the Lascaux Flash Fiction Prize. The handful of words I've written since February are trying to earn their keep.
